Joint Management Committee Meeting 2023 held between CCNU and UOW

The Joint Management Committee Meeting 2023 of Central China Normal University Wollongong Joint Institute was held on March 13th, to review the past accomplishments and discuss the strategic plan for further development. UOW Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Patricia M. Davidson, UOW Pro Vice-Chancellor Global Professor Wilma Vialle, and CCNU President Professor Hao Fanghua, Vice President of CCNU Professor Chen Diming, and representatives from UOW Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, Global Strategy Division, CCNU Faculty of Artificial Intelligence in Education, Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Graduate School, and the JI attended the meeting.

Professor Hao delivered the opening remark, reviewed the history of cooperation between UOW and CCNU, and affirmed the achievements in the fields of Chinese-foreign cooperative education, faculty and student exchange, as well as joint scientific research. She said, the Joint Institute had triumphed in terms of student demand, employment outcomes, student mobility, and research collaboration since its inception in 2016. She looked forward to strengthening cooperation between the two universities by jointly preparing local and global accreditations, developing new master’s programs, and promoting joint PhD program.

Professor Davidson addressed with excitement to celebrate the success of the JI. She said bad times tested the strength of the relationship, and the stride of JI even under the challenge of COVID-19 pandemic was a good sign of the rich collaboration of the two universities. She emphasized the importance of scientific collaboration and global dialogue in the new era and shared her willingness on deepening the global strategic partnership between CCNU and UOW.

During the meeting, the Dean of the JI Professor Yu Xinguo presented an overall review covered aspects of enrollment, student mobility, graduation outcomes, academic staffing, accreditation, and launch of joint PhD program in the past 7 years. Plans for further development were also reported. Professor Vialle, Professor Chen and other representatives from both sides also shared their insights on inter-university collaboration.

In the last session, the members of the Joint Management Committee voted unanimously on proposals such as JMC Structure update, new program establishment, and change of duration for the Double-Degree programs.
