On July 2nd, JI’s 2018 summer language training opening ceremony was successfully carried out in Yifu International Conference Hall. Mr. Wu Helin, Deputy Dean of JI, Professor Luqing Wang of UOW College, and all the teachers and students relevant attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Chen Cheng, a counselor of JI.
On behalf of the Joint Institute, Mr. Wu Helin expressed his warm welcome to the incoming student of 2018. At the same time, he extended his gratitude to Professor Luqing Wang from UOW for her careful preparation for teacher training. He said that it was the first that this language training program held overseas by UOW College. He encouraged everyone to cherish this opportunity to study hard and strived for good results.
Later, Professor Luqing Wang introduced the beautiful coastal city of Wollongong and UOW. Then, she explained the ETS (English for Tertiary Studies program) program to the new students. She emphasized that the purpose of this language training is to improve everyone's academic English ability. She hoped everyone can communicate in English as often as possible during the training period, learn more and think critically, which would lay a solid language foundation for following professional learning.
It is reported that since the establishment of JI in 2016, it has annually conducted summer English intensive training for the incoming student, aimed at enabling freshmen to adapt to the all-English teaching mode of JI as soon as possible, and promote the ability of JI students in academic English listening, speaking, reading and writing.
