Luo Heng of Our College was Awarded the 2019 Annual Project of the National Education Science “13th Five-Year Plan”

Approved by the office of the national education science planning leading group, the list of 2019 projects of the national education science “13th five-year plan” has been announced. Research on the innovation of traffic safety education for children based on virtual reality (VR) technology, chaired by associate professor Luo Heng of our school, has been approved as the national general project of the national education science (national social science foundation education project) “13th five-year plan” in 2019. The project period is from July 2019 to June 2022, and the budget of the project is 200,000 yuan.

This project organically integrates virtual reality technology and inquiry-based teaching theory, creatively applies it to the field of traffic safety education for children in China. It uses quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the teaching effect, learning experience, influencing factors and mechanism of this teaching model. The subject of the research content includes design environment of virtual reality teaching situation, task design, interaction design, argumentation and inspection feedback design teaching strategy, further develops and improves the theory and mode of inquiry-based teaching based on VR technology. At the same time, it uses the VR technology to systematically explore the behavioral habits, cognitive characteristics and related influencing factors of Chinese children in the complex road traffic environment. The results of the research will further develop and improve the inquiry-based teaching theory and model based on virtual reality technology, promote the quality and effect of children’s traffic safety education as well as reduce the traffic accident casualties of children in China.

The establishment of educational science planning subject is to build a platform for educational science research, guide the development direction of educational science research, gather scientific research strength, reflect national and social needs, and serve for the educational reform and development practice. The national education science planning leading group is established by the ministry of education. The national education science planning is issued every five years and is usually announced to the nation in the first quarter of the first year of each five-year plan, establishing the national social science foundation pedagogy important topic, the key topic, the general topic, the youth foundation topic, key subjects of the ministry of education, special subjects for youth of the ministry of education, planning subjects of the ministry of education, as well as subjects of national defense and military education and key subjects of other ministries.
